North American First: MARTIN Installs Feed Chute Water Jacket with Bolted Wear Plates

11/06/2025

At MARTIN, we don't just innovate—we collaborate across borders to deliver smarter, more reliable solutions for the waste-to-energy industry. We're excited to announce a major milestone: the successful delivery and commissioning of the first MARTIN Feed Chute Water Jacket with bolted wear plates in North America.

This breakthrough installation at Hennepin Energy Recovery Center marks a new era of efficiency, serviceability, and cost control for waste-to-energy operators across the continent.

A Smarter Solution for Critical Infrastructure

As a core component of the MARTIN Stoker System, the Feed Chute Water Jacket guides waste into the combustion grate and is constantly exposed to high thermal and mechanical stress. With our newly engineered bolted wear plates, replacing worn parts is now simpler, faster, and dramatically more cost-effective, allowing operators to extend the life of their equipment without extended downtime or full-unit replacements.

This game-changing design was developed by our expert teams in Munich, Germany, in close collaboration with our Swiss engineering office in Wettingen, and it reflects MARTIN's commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

Hennepin Energy Recovery Center Installation

In April 2025, Hennepin Energy Recovery Center—operating two MARTIN Stokers—chose to implement the bolted wear plate design as part of their strategic equipment upgrade. After carefully evaluating performance benefits, reduced maintenance complexity, and long-term savings, Hennepin selected this advanced design as the ideal replacement solution.

Powered by Global Expertise

This project is a perfect example of MARTIN's global teamwork in action, delivering seamless execution from design to commissioning:

• Design & Engineering: MARTIN teams in Munich, Germany, and Wettingen, Switzerland
• Manufacturing & Fabrication: MARTIN Caldeiras facility in Portugal
• Installation & Commissioning: MARTIN Service Supervisors from Germany
• Project Coordination & Customer Support: MARTIN North America (MET) team

Every detail was managed with precision, ensuring a smooth delivery process and successful on-site implementation.

Ready to Future-Proof Your Plant?

This innovative upgrade is a powerful solution for any waste-to-energy facility planning system modernizations or equipment life extension. If you're looking to reduce maintenance costs, boost uptime, and protect critical infrastructure, now's the time to consider switching to MARTIN's bolted wear plate design.
